Offer description

At Stint, we’re using AI tools to transform how hospitality businesses operate. We started by building the UK’s largest flexible workforce of hyper-local students available for short 2–3 hour shifts, working with brands like PizzaExpress, Pret a Manger, Gails, and many more. Now, we’re combining that workforce with an AI tool – creating a platform that no competitor can replicate. In just 10 months, our new AI software has surpassed £1m in ARR and we are on track to multiply that in the next 12 months. We are aggressively capturing the UK market, and international expansion is next - with plans to launch big in the US soon. This is a hands-on role, ideal for a strong Senior Payroll Administrator or Team Leader who is ready to step into a future management position, or an experienced Payroll Manager who enjoys being close to the detail. You’ll be personally responsible for end-to-end payroll delivery across multiple clients, while being supported to develop your people-management and leadership skills as the function grows. You’ll work closely with the Head of Payroll and be part of a small, collaborative team building a first-class payroll bureau from the ground up. You’ll be trusted with real responsibility, have the opportunity to shape how the function operates, and play a meaningful role in its future development. We are an office-first, collaborative team and this role is based in Camden 2-3 days a week What you will be doing: Take full end-to-end ownership of multiple client payrolls, from data input and validation through to submission, payments, and post-payroll reconciliation and pensions uploads. Personally carry out payroll processing, checks, reconciliations, and submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage. Be accountable for payroll deadlines, statutory submissions, and payment accuracy. Apply up-to-date UK payroll legislation and HMRC guidance confidently to real-world scenarios. Proactively identify issues, risks, or inefficiencies and take ownership of resolving them. Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related client queries, providing clear, confident, and professional communication. Work closely with the Head of Payroll on payroll implementations, system changes, and process improvements. Support the development of payroll processes, documentation, and controls as the bureau scales. Contribute to the evolution of payroll automation and API integrations to reduce manual effort over time. As the team grows, gradually take on line management and mentoring responsibilities, with full support and training provided. This position might suit you, if: You are a highly competent payroll professional with strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, and are confident applying it in practice. You have experience running payrolls end-to-end, ideally in a bureau or multi-client environment, and are comfortable being accountable for the final output. You are confident working with payroll systems and can quickly understand, configure, and adapt to new systems and processes. You enjoy working with data and have an analytical mindset, able to think through non-standard scenarios and solve problems pragmatically. You are detail-oriented but also able to understand dependencies, prioritise effectively, and anticipate what needs to happen next. You communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with clients, both verbally and in writing. You may be stepping into your first management role, or already have some management experience, and are keen to develop leadership capability alongside technical delivery. You take ownership of your work, are comfortable making decisions, and stand by your judgement. You are motivated by learning, progression, and being part of a growing function where you can make a real and visible impact. This role suits someone who enjoys owning payroll delivery today, while having the opportunity to grow into broader bureau leadership responsibilities as the team and client base expand. What we can offer you £45,000-£55,000, dependant on experience Private medical insurance A social, friendly and welcoming team based in the heart of Camden Office gym membership Ownership shares in a well-funded, growing start-up Dog friendly office!
