Here at HitachiRail we have a great opportunity for a dedicated Refuelling Operative to join our team at Stoke Gifford Train Maintenance Centre in Bristol.
Salary: £35,504 plus 15% Shift allowance and £3,000 Location Allowance. Permanent contract.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities: In this role, you will be responsible for servicing of trains including fuel, toilet, screen wash, Diesel, Ad-Blu and fresh water, and you will support the Maintenance staff as required with corrective and preventative maintenance, complex fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets. This is a permanent position working on a rotating night shift basis only. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
* Undertake servicing/ replenishment of trains arriving from service (this will include but is not limited to):
* Replenishment of Diesel
* Replenishment of Ad-Blu
* Toilet system servicing
* Replenishment of fresh water for the toilet and galley systems
* Replenishment of the driver’s windscreen wash
* Replenishment of sand hoppers fitted to the train
* Record all servicing undertaken and fluids or materials used in the maintenance management system (MMS)
* Carry out daily checks of service spine equipment and ensure area is tidy/clean
* Reporting of any defects found, notifying the Refuelling Team Leader and recording this in MMS
* Support the Maintenance staff with corrective and preventative maintenance, complex fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets
* Support the continued development of the MMS. Ensure all servicing requirements are captured and delivered
* Ensure all fluid and material usage is controlled and recorded and any materials being returned to stores for repair are correctly labelled and the process is followed
* Comply with lean principles and best practice as instructed at North Pole and other out-stabled locations as necessary
* Support the maintenance staff and cleaners to ensure the contractual agreed number of trains are made available for service
* Health & safety – follow correct working practices at all times, ensure PPE is used, and keep roadways/pits clean after work
* Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete duties
* Carry out first level fault rectification on the service spine equipment
* Assist with general depot duties as required
About You
Required Skills / Knowledge
* Local PTS
* Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, powered plant and tools – air / 110v experience
* Experience of supporting a maintenance team on a shift basis in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment
* Safety awareness in operational railway environments
* Experience of working at stabling out stations or main line stations in an operational area
* Strong understanding of safe systems of work
* Experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and related reliability and available trend analysis
* Knowledge of and compliance with internal and external rules and regulations
* Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel within and outside the company
Education / Qualifications
* Engineering background knowledge; NVQ level 2/3 in mechanical or electrical engineering, or appropriate industry experience
Behavioural
* Good communication skills and ability to follow clear instructions

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Loyal, committed, confident and determined
Desirable Skills (not essential)
* Basic IT skills
* First aider
* Experience in operation of refuelling points for rolling stock
* Depot protection system knowledge
* Working at height, COSHH, manual handling, AC/DC depot isolation
* Network Rail Sentinel PTS
