AWS Cloud Engineer – AWS / Kubernetes / Terraform / Linux

A skilled AWS Cloud Engineer is required to join a forward-thinking software company at the forefront of learning and talent technology. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team responsible for scaling and evolving a global cloud platform that powers digital learning experiences for major organisations worldwide.
For this AWS Cloud Engineer, you’ll help design and manage cloud infrastructure that’s secure, automated, and built for performance. You’ll work closely with development and operations teams to improve reliability, enhance scalability, and introduce new tools and technologies across Totara’s multi-tenant hosting environment.
This AWS Cloud Engineer is ideal for a technically curious engineer who enjoys problem-solving, thrives in a distributed team, and wants to contribute to a mission-driven business.
Responsibilities:
* Building, maintaining, and optimising AWS-based infrastructure for large-scale SaaS hosting
* Managing and improving Kubernetes clusters running in production
* Developing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and improving automation pipelines
* Monitoring performance, availability, and security across distributed systems
* Working collaboratively across product and operations teams to deliver platform improvements
* Participating in an on-call rota to ensure the stability of production environments
* Introducing new technologies and best practices that enhance platform resilience and efficiency
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, EKS, WAF, etc.)
* Solid understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration in live environments
* Strong knowledge of Terraform or similar IaC tools
* Background in Linux administration and troubleshooting (Ubuntu, Alpine, or Amazon Linux)
* Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows (Git)
* Understanding of networking, load balancing, and cloud security principles
* Strong problem-solving mindset with excellent communication skills
* Familiarity with PostgreSQL, monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus), or scripting (Python, Bash), nice to have
They can offer a salary of up to £65,000 per annum, with great benefits and fully remote working. You'll need to be flexible with your time to attend global meetings twice a month, and also attend team meetings in their London office once a quarter.
