We are looking for an enthusiastic friendly highly motivated person to join our ever evolving OMFS team. The job involves providing a high standard of quality care to a wide variety of patients, some with complex needs. The department is a well-established service which is consultant lead and provides acute medical, orthodontic, restorative and surgical treatments within the areas.

Main duties of the job

The role as a Dental Nurse will be to act as a chaperone in clinics supporting the consultant / clinician. You will be expected to us your nursing skill to adapt to working in all areas previously mention, and learn new skills and techniques and you progress.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Qualified dental nurse that is enthusiastic friendly highly motivated person to join our the OMFS team. Providing a high standard of quality care to a wide variety of patients. The department is a well-established service which is consultant lead and provides acute medical, orthodontic, restorative and surgical treatments within the areas. You will be expected to assist in clinic and treatment services. Maintain good communication at all times written, verbal and non verbal .

Responsibilities will include daily running of surgeries, stock control and cross infection control. Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of dealing with hazards and dangerous substances. Help and mentor individuals when needed and work together as a team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Registered Dental Nurse (Registered with GDC),
2. A good standard of general education (GCSE Maths/English),
3. Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable criteria

4. Diploma Level Education

Experience

Essential criteria

5. Able to converse in a positive manner with all levels of staff and patients (i.e. well-developed interpersonal skills),
6. Good IT Skills
7. Experience of Surgical Setting

Desirable criteria

8. Experience in OMF and Orthodontic treatment,
9. Experience in outpatient settings,

Knowledge

Essential criteria

10. Excellent Communication Skills (Written and Verbal),
11. Demonstrates an awareness of organisational and clinical issues,
12. Working within the GDC’s standards and scope of practice for dental nurses,

Desirable criteria

13. Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines,
14. Accurate keyboard skills,
15. Ability and experience to organise own workload and work on own initiative,
