About the role
Connex Education is seeking a dedicated part-time/full-time SEN Support Worker with a psychology background, you’ll work directly with children and young people with special educational needs, applying evidence-based approaches to support their learning, emotional regulation, and social development.
Your psychology knowledge will be invaluable in:
1. Understanding cognitive and developmental stages to tailor support appropriately
2. Recognizing behavioural patterns and implementing positive behaviour strategies
3. Supporting emotional wellbeing using therapeutic approaches
4. Applying learning theories to create effective educational interventions
5. Building rapport through understanding of attachment and relationship dynamics
6. Contributing insights to multidisciplinary team assessments and planning

You will be on a 1:1 basis with your allocated pupil, within a class of up to 5 and a teacher.

As a successful SEND Teaching Assistant with Connex Education Partnership, you will possess:
14. Hold a relevant Qualification in SEND or Teaching Assistant
15. Degree in Psychology (or currently studying towards one)
16. Passion for working with children and young people with SEN
17. Understanding of child development, learning theories, or behavioural psychology
18. Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
19. Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours
20. Commitment to inclusive education and neurodiversity
21. Previous experience with children
