About your next role:
We are seeking to recruit a Principal Engineer to lead our design team and contribute to its continuing development and success. Working within an established team of five and collaborating with our manufacturing and estimating teams, you will be a key player in delivering outstanding solutions to a diverse and growing customer base spread across multiple industry sectors.
Your duties will include:
* Lead and oversee the design, planning, and execution of projects of varying size and complexity;
* Mentor, develop, and grow our existing team to ensure that we continue to provide peace of mind to our customers, both today and in the future;
* Deliver improvements in engineering cost and quality, by developing a culture focused on continuous improvement across the design team and the wider business, underpinned by evidence-based KPIs;
* Lead the identification and implementation of innovative products and technology, to create market advantage for Bensons and improve the customer experience;
* Cultivate and strengthen customer relationships, ensuring that both client and company needs are met;
* Provide technical leadership and governance across all projects, bringing a positive and analytical approach to problem-solving both for design and manufacturing.
What essential skills will we be looking for you to demonstrate?
* A technical skill and depth of knowledge on electrical components and systems, preferably within a control panel manufacturer.
* In-depth experience in CAD software and support systems.
* A history of leading change and continual improvement within a quality-driven environment.
* Proven ability to shape and get the best out of both your own team and the wider teams within a company.
* Excellent communication skills at all levels within the company plus with customers ranging from publicly listed corporations to SMEs.
The above will be supported by a "can do" approach to problem solving, and an ambition to help take Bensons forward on its journey of growth and development.
Knowledge of PLCs and programming would be an advantage, but is not essential.
