Position: Project Planner
Location: West Berkshire
£55,000 - £60,000 Per Annum + Package
We are working with leading highways service provider is looking for an experienced Planner to support the successful delivery of its maintenance and improvement programmes across the Slough region. This role is central to ensuring works are well‑structured, efficiently sequenced and delivered to agreed timescales.
The Role
You will be responsible for building, maintaining and monitoring project programmes across design, procurement, construction and handover stages. Using your understanding of construction methodology and outputs, you'll challenge assumptions, refine logic and ensure all activities are accurately represented. You'll also support change management, progress reporting and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, updating them throughout the project lifecycle
* Work with delivery teams to plan methodology, sequencing and key milestones
* Identify critical path activities and highlight risks to programme delivery
* Produce short‑term lookahead schedules to support weekly planning
* Assess the impact of changes and compensation events on programme timelines
* Prepare and present programme updates to internal teams and clients
* Coordinate with subcontractors to integrate their schedules into the master programme
* Ensure all programme documentation is stored, updated and issued correctly
* Produce "what‑if" scenarios to explore alternative delivery strategies
* Support reporting requirements, ensuring progress data is accurate and timely
* Liaise with local authorities and third parties to support programme coordination
* Contribute to the development of planning processes and production outputs
About You
* Background in highways or civil engineering planning
* Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
* Ideally 5+ years' experience in a dedicated planning role
* Familiar with NEC3/NEC4 contracts and programme‑related change management
* Confident communicator able to present programme information clearly
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge and validate construction logic
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
* CSCS card holder and committed to ongoing professional development
