PERTH ROYAL INFIRMARY Elective Surgery and Anaesthetic Pre Assessment ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER/TRAINEE – Band 7/Annex 21 Para 2 (i) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Specialist Surgery Care Group, based at Perth Royal Infirmary. This ANP role in Elective Surgery offers an excellent opportunity to be involved in improving experience and pathways of care for patients within the service. The post holder will be part of the core team and will respond to rapidly deteriorating patients in order to provide timely care. This post holder will help ensure a whole system approach and will provide senior clinical cover on the surgical wards and support review of patients in Anaesthetic Pre Assessment Clinic. The post holder will have proven management skills within a clinical setting, demonstrating excellent leadership and communication. They will have the ability to adapt to changing levels of activity and acuity within the surgical unit to work autonomously, including during out of hours on completion of training; exercising advanced practice skills, knowledge and clinical expertise. They will deliver high quality evidence based and person centred care to all patients within their remit. The post holder will support the development of nursing practice within Specialist Surgery by participating in the delivery of specialist education and training in line with working within the 4 pillars of advanced practice. The post holder will be an experienced nurse with the personal drive, clinical knowledge and commitment to undertake this challenging and rewarding role. They will possess highly developed communication skills and have experience of working effectively across professional boundaries. Evidence of continual professional development within an appropriate clinical setting, with master’s Level learning in Advanced Nursing Practice and hold a qualification as an Independent Nurse Prescriber. Annex 21 para 2 (i) terms and conditions will apply to the Trainee ANP post and the post holder will have 2 years to complete PGDip in Advanced Practice to move onto Band 7 as ANP. Extensive experience at Band 5 level is essential and experience at Band 6/7 level is desirable. In return, we offer the opportunity to work with a dynamic, changing team and the successful applicants will be supported to develop their advanced level practice. You must be registered on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register and educated at Degree Level.
