Overview
We are currently looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Stroke Therapy team within Therapy and Rehabilitation Services at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) in Central London.
The post lies within University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). You will work under the supervision of the multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team and should be enthusiastic about assisting people of differing abilities with practical aspects of personal and daily life. A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to different work areas are required.
Responsibilities
* Work across a number of service areas: stroke, neuro-rehabilitation, acute neuro-medical and neuro-surgery. Move across these areas to support demand within each team.
* Provide practical assistance to patients to undertake activities of daily living, under supervision of the rehabilitation team.
Regular supervision and support for continued professional development is offered, including opportunities to work on projects within your peer group.
Qualifications
* Essential: 2 GCSEs including English or equivalent qualification
* Essential: NVQ3 or equivalent
* Essential: Experience in a healthcare or community care environment
* Desirable: Understanding of roles of Allied Health Professionals and nursing in the NHS
* Essential: Ability to meet Trust Values of safety, kindness, teamwork and improvement
* Essential: Good written and spoken English; effective communication
* Essential: Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Physical and Technical Requirements
* Manage physical effort of working between hospital sites, including moving between sites, ascending/descending stairs, standing for long periods, and handling heavy folders
* Ability to work in environments with unpleasant sights, noises, smells, or temperature fluctuations
