Mechanical Engineer – Runcorn Full‑time | Permanent | Rotating Days/Afternoons On‑Call Salary: £41,000–£46,000 Company: Our client (part of a Group supporting the circular economy) About the Role We’re recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a modern, fast‑paced manufacturing site in Runcorn. You’ll ensure machinery operates safely, reliably, and efficiently by carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding, and supporting continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Perform PPM on mechanical equipment and systems Respond to breakdowns and complete reactive repairs Diagnose faults using root cause analysis Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals Maintain accurate maintenance and downtime records Support reliability and improvement projects Adhere to all health & safety procedures and isolation protocols What We’re Looking For Qualifications (one of): Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (NVQ/BTEC/City & Guilds/HNC/HND) Equivalent experience IOSH (desirable) Experience & Skills Mechanical Engineer/Maintenance Technician background Experience in manufacturing or similar fast‑paced environments Strong hands‑on mechanical and fault‑finding abilities Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems Experience with rotating machinery Skilled with workshop tools and equipment Strong problem‑solving skills Able to work independently and within a team Why Join?
