The Team
Freeths LLP Planning and Environment Group is a multi-disciplinary team comprising planning lawyers, environmental lawyers, and planning consultants operating across all development sectors. The Group is recognized for its extensive knowledge, broad experience, and for providing clear, pragmatic, and commercial advice to navigate and manage the planning process—from proposal inception to advocacy—to secure optimal outcomes. The Group offers a holistic approach, including advice on environmental regulation, biodiversity, sustainability, environmental permitting, circular economy, contaminated land, waste, water regulation, climate change, and regulatory defense.
The Planning and Environment Group collaborates closely with Freeths’ commercial, corporate, and real-estate lawyers, supporting their nationally recognized practices in development, clean energy, and waste sectors.
As part of the wider Group, the environmental law team advises high-level clients, including public and private companies (manufacturers, housebuilders, developers, minerals operators, utilities), public sector organizations, local authorities, and environmental regulators. The team aims to establish itself as one of the leading Environmental Law Teams in the UK.
