An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Royal Mail as a Data Manager.
In this varied position, you will lead on the management and production of data for PAM (Partially Addressed Mail) marketing campaigns; turning mailing and door drop strategies into optimised, coded and cleansed communication files ready for printing or multi-channel execution, Works with Data and Media Planners and Letters Specialists to define objectives, aggregate and prep data for high level analysis.
About the role
This role is responsible for Information Security & Data Compliance across team. The role is central to delivering the Marketreach revenue goal of £222M.
You'll have high level user of Python for data processing and analysis, coupled with strong user of SQL and industry specialist tools data.
You'll be using SQL & Python to query data, generate counts, aggregate transactional data and for post campaign evaluations.
You'll have an understanding of modelling within Python; statistics, data modelling, Lifts/Gini coefficient, manipulation and transformation of data whislt using Python to manipulate postcode datasets to create look-a-like models (experience with geo-demographics).
You'll have experience working with name and address data for mailing; GDPR and proper data handling/storage procedures, data deletions policies etc.
You'll manages data production briefs; executing end-to-end processing from receipt of files to delivery.
You'll own customer communications to ensure data is secure, compliant, fit for purpose and error free.
You'll be responsible for maintaining the necessary standards for DMA "DataSeal" accreditation and passing annual audit.
You'll collaborate with Royal Mail Information Security to ensure all policies are up-to-date and in force.
You'll manage the process for reporting costs relating to data processing and data purchase and declaration of royalties to 3rd parties.
You'll assess, purchases and implements new 3rd party tools as required. Maintains and updates business critical software.
You'll quality assure data from all parties to ensure files are error free and fit for purpose - managing and resolved any issues whilst being responsible for managing, developing and improving internal reporting tools including the Planning team's 'Work in Process' project status reports.
About you
In order to excel in this position, you will have the follwing skills and experience:
• Data processing practitioner with expert knowledge of data processing data (ideally name and address): de-duplication, matching, industry suppressions, name & address cleansing (PAF).
• High level Python & SQL user and able to use mixture of other tools like Microsoft Access and Excel for data processing, counting and manipulation.
• Proficient working with multi-million, diverse data sets across different sectors (including transactional data and relational databases)
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
• A proven ability to deliver to agreed time-lines and handle expectations between internal/external clients, and 3rd parties.
• An ability to define and refine a brief by asking questions, clarifying and pushing back where necessary.
• Exceptional attention to detail and quality assurance skills.
• A strong passion for data and a desire to make data work harder for customers.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills. Self-starter who also works well in a team.
