Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant – Halifax (HX2)
Daily Rate: £95–£105 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (term-time only)
Start Date: September 2025 (with earlier trial days available)
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or learning support professional with a passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities? We are seeking several outstanding SEND Teaching Assistants to join partner schools across Halifax, working with students aged 5–16 who require tailored and compassionate support.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
* Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
* Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
* Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
* Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to pupils' individual learning plans (EHCPs)
* Use visual aids, PECS, Makaton or sensory equipment to aid communication and learning (training provided where needed)
* Support academic progress across subjects including numeracy, literacy, and life skills
* Implement positive behaviour strategies and help pupils manage their emotions in a safe, regulated way
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, external professionals, and families to provide holistic support
* Assist with personal care and mobility where required, depending on pupil needs
* Promote inclusion, build trust and act as a positive role model in and out of the classroom
What We’re Looking For:
* Minimum of 6 months experience supporting children/young people with SEND (in education, care, or support services)
* Calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent, especially in high-pressure situations
* Willingness to learn and take part in training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or positive handling
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with both pupils and staff
* A commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
