The Role
As a Temporary Works Engineer, you will be a vital member of our Engineering department, reporting directly to the Managing Director. You'll apply your technical expertise to create innovative and robust temporary works and scaffold designs for a range of challenging projects. Your work will be crucial in translating complex engineering concepts into practical, safe, and efficient solutions for our clients.
What You'll Do
* Design safe, cost-effective, and buildable temporary works solutions with a focus on scaffold design.
* Create clear and detailed technical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit & SketchUp.
* Collaborate with our in-house animation and illustration team by articulating complex designs, utilizing tools like Blender.
* Conduct thorough site visits and surveys when required to ensure designs are implemented correctly and meet all safety standards.
* Liaise directly with clients and project stakeholders to understand their needs and provide expert technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Automate and enhance design processes using your scripting skills with Python, AutoCAD, Revit.
What You'll Bring
Required:
* A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* 5-8 years of hands-on experience in the design of temporary works and scaffolding.
* Confident knowledge of Eurocode standards specific to our industry.
* High proficiency with design and modelling software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and SkyCiv S3D.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently liaise with clients and articulate clearly design features.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
* An interest in computational workflows including design automation using programming.
Preferred:
* Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status (e.g., IEng/CEng MICE/IStructE/IMechE) or actively working towards professional qualification.
* A strong network of industry contacts.
