Smart Education is recruiting for a Functional Skills Teacher to deliver English and Maths to learners aged 14–19 across alternative provision and SEN settings in the [insert location] area.
This is a fantastic opportunity to teach in a way that connects with real life—helping students gain vital skills for independence, work, and further education.
Your Role Will Involve:
Planning and delivering Functional Skills English and Maths lessons (Entry Level to Level 2)
Supporting learners with a range of additional needs including SEMH, MLD, ADHD, or those in alternative provision
Creating engaging, accessible lessons that reflect learners’ interests and life goals
Working closely with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning
Assessing progress and adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needsWho We’re Looking For:
A qualified teacher (QTS, QTLS or Level 5+ teaching qualification such as DET/PGCE)
Previous experience teaching Functional Skills or working with disengaged learners
Strong behaviour management and a creative approach to differentiation
A calm, resilient, and nurturing attitude
Enhanced DBS (Child or Child & Adult Workforce) or willingness to obtain one
