WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
1. Control the design, development, and evaluation of components and assemblies from concept to mass production, for new models making sure they comply with the customer requirements, liaising with other areas of R&D to ensure this is fulfilled.
2. Ensure liaison with customers, suppliers, and PMUK departments in order that all project stakeholders are fully informed at all times.
3. Provide evidence that the relevant customer, Panasonic, regional EN), and general product safety directives are considered where appropriate.
4. Apply technical knowledge to resolve issues and coordinate development issues into areas of expertise with internal contacts, external suppliers and customers, toolmakers, and other Panasonic organisations.
5. Consider historic problems and endeavour to eradicate them from future designs.
6. Ensure assigned mechanical parts are available on schedule for sample builds according to agreed schedules.
7. Support the project leader to ensure cost requirements for mechanical aspects of developments are available when required including samples costs, mass production parts, and tooling cost.
8. Support the project leader to create and maintain project plans / schedules for mechanical aspects of developments.
9. Support the project and team leader to ensure relevant project based AQ and R&D documents (NCL, schedule table, BOMs, etc.) are completed in line with the required processes.
10. Provide Information for the weekly project update (issued to PMUK management), providing updates on any new or ongoing issues, including appropriate responses and actions being taken.
11. Provide necessary information for technical and strategic meetings and attend and contribute to the relevant development meetings, both internal and external.
12. Consider new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems / processes ensuring efficient product development and future improvement to product development.
13. Mentor and support junior members of the mechanical design team with the technical aspect of their work.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
14. Degree level qualification in an engineering or business-based discipline relevant industry experience.
15. Experience in component design (plastic & sheet metal).
16. Experience in assembly design.
17. Drafting – dimensioning & tolerance.
18. Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes (injection moulding/metal pressing).
19. Experience in materials selection.
20. Product and component evaluation.
21. Knowledge of project management processes.
22. High-level problem-solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
23. High Level 3D CAD skills preferably CATIA V5 and ENOVIA.
24. Knowledge of various quality system methodologies Lean, 5 Whys, Six Sigma etc.
25. Knowledge of home appliance products (Desirable).
26. Must have a valid driving license and the ability to travel abroad.
