Radiology is a busydepartment providing X-Ray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy and Ultrasound services. Weprovide diagnostic services to our hospital sites using both specific RadiologyIT packages alongside Trustwide systems to provide integrated care.
We have an excitingopportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced Receptionist/Admin Assistant tojoin our friendly team based within Radiology at Darlington Memorial and BishopAuckland Hospitals.
The successful candidateshould provide consistent outstanding care and exemplary service to ourpatients and visitors, arrange appointments and liaise with all involved in theImaging process to ensure the best service for our patients.
The successful candidate will need excellentcommunication, organisational and investigative skills and have a flexibleapproach to tasks with experience working in a busy office environment.
Main duties of the job
Weare looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal skills, dedication andthe confidence to deal with a wide range of matters with diplomacy. Patientadministration experience, experience in working with people and the ability toadapt to change while managing and prioritising a heavy workload, in a fastdeveloping environment is essential for this role. An organised and flexibleperson who enjoys working individually but also as part of a wider team wouldbe ideal for this role.
Mainduties of this role include; front of house reception cover, booking Radiologyappointments, communicating withpatients and staff, undertaking IT system based work, linking in with patienttransport services and general administrative duties.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

From April 9th 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have a minimum of two yearsof experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to considersponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria andhave a current visa expiring within 3 months).
Job responsibilities
Greeting patients and visitors attending the department.
Accurately enteringdetails onto the Radiology Information System.
Handling queries,liaising with other departments and Colleagues when necessary.
Liaising regularly with secondarycare staff, GP surgeries etc.
Providing a fast andresponsive appointments service to patients.
Receiving and handlinginformation regarding referrals to the service, within set timescales.
Providing general adminsupport to the Radiology department as a whole.
Ensuring waiting timetargets are met (including 2 week referrals).
Sending and receiving images via Radiology IT systems.
Person Specification
Special Requirements
* Ability to work as a member of a team.
* Good IT knowledge including Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Knowledge of Data Protection and Caldicott Principles, understanding the requirement to maintain confidentiality.
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education, minimum of 3 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above, including English, or equivalent experience suitable for role.
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Administration.

* Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure in a busy department.

* Experience dealing with the general public and the ability to solve problems.
* Previous experience working within the NHS and/or a Radiology Department.
