Thermal Processing Team
Our Processing Innovation Team supportsour members and clients with consultancy, project work and trainingactivities in the thermal processing area, including processdevelopment,validation and optimisation. This encompasses heating (e.g. cooking,pasteurisationand sterilisation) and cooling (chilling and freezing) processes.
Due to the work they do there's anexciting travel element to this role- UK, Europe and Globally! Expensespaid work trips across the globe, recent trips include- Turkey, Iceland,Jamacia, South Africa, Italy and Spain.

The work of theGroup is firmly rooted in the application of sound science and engineeringprinciples to the solution of food industry problems. The route todelivering this is through a blend of longer-term research activities and short-termcontract support for companies. In addition,there is a significant training and knowledge transfer activity aimed atfacilitating the application of best practice within the food manufacturingsector.
The Group hasfacilities for traditional thermal processing (including heating and cooling operations),as well as a selection of more innovative technologies, supporting areas suchas product development and food packaging.
You will providethermal process authority support to Campden BRI clients in the form oftechnical project work, validation solutions and the delivery of training toclients.
You will play a leading role in the development of new business within the team.
You will lead a teamof process technologists (3-4 direct reports), in the delivery of scientificand technical projects, particularly focused on delivery of the thermal processvalidation services.
What you’ll be doing
* Management & oversight of the thermalvalidation service, ensuring quality of work, planning of resource andmaintenance of equipment (e.g. repairs & calibration)
* Managing own project work activities to meetproject deadlines. These will be the more technical validation and/orconsultancy projects, some of which will involve travel to client sites in theUK and abroad
* Design and provisionof training courses and presentations on external/internal training courses,seminars and symposia
* Proposing and delivering funded research, aroundthermal and none-thermal processing technologies
* Development of the technical and professionalskills of staff reports (3-4 G2/3 level staff)
* Responsible for the business development of researchand contract work building client relationships, preparing/reviewing quotes
* Responding to directtechnical enquiries and requests for processing advice
What we’re looking for
* Degreeor equivalent in chemical engineering, science or food technology.
* Afundamental awareness of the importance of heat processing in the foodindustry.
* Proven experience working in a food production related setting. Experienceof working within a specific processing areas such UHT, pasteurisation, orretort processing is advantageous.
* Experienceof and/or enthusiasm for, people management and development.
* Provenbusiness development skills, with the potential and desire to develop thesefurther.
* Excellentverbal and written communication skills (client meetings, emails, reports).
* Timemanagement and financial awareness to facilitate effective project management
* Full UK/EU driving licence and eligibility tolive/work in the UK. Ability to travel within the UK and beyond
* Computerliterate: MS Office (particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
