About the Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a Tailor / Stock Controller within our Supplies Department to provide a uniform and workwear alterations service to Staffordshire Fire and Police personnel, and to provide assistance with the receipt, storage, and issue of goods required providing administrative support in associated areas.
Duties to include:
1. To assist in the performance of the day-to-day activities of the Department, in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures.
2. To assist in implementing authorised changes in methods and procedures utilised by the Department.
3. To alter and modify workwear and uniforms to individual requirements.
4. To assist in resolving day-to-day enquiries from suppliers and service users.
5. To issue items from stock on authorised demand, ensuring that such items are properly and accurately recorded, and processed as per associated documentation. Additionally, the measurement and fitting of garments and PPE to personnel.
6. To receive goods from suppliers, ensuring that items have been accurately checked; accurately recorded; and processed as per associated documentation.
7. To receive SFRS items for disposal, ensuring that such items are properly and accurately recorded, and processed as per associated documentation.
8. To prepare and distribute goods directly to the user, or to approved delivery points. This could involve driving to all areas of the Service and Suppliers.
9. To ensure that stock items are stored correctly and suitable for issue.
10. To assist in cleaning/maintaining the stock control areas of the Department.
11. To assist in maintaining electronic stock control & PPE systems.
12. To progress purchase orders and invoices accurately.
13. To place orders for goods as approved by management team.
14. To perform any other duties comparable to level of responsibility, as may be required.
Person Specification:
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the below criteria:
Essential:
15. Good general level of education
16. Experience of stock control administration or warehousing
17. Basic working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of sewing machinery and associated equipment
18. Experienced in the use of electronic stock control systems
19. Good ICT skills - competent in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access
20. Clean and current driving licence
Desirable:
21. Knowledge of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue policies and procedures relating to procurement and Stock Control
22. Advanced knowledge of stock control systems
23. Competence in sewing machine operations/maintenance with tailing skills
