Job Title: External Audit Manager
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage external audit engagements, overseeing all phases of the audit lifecycle, from planning to final reporting and completion, ensuring compliance with auditing standards.
* Serve as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong client relationships to deliver exceptional audit services and address business needs.
* Oversee audit teams, assigning tasks, reviewing team outputs, and mentoring junior team members to support their career development.
* Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, including corporates, ensuring audits are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
* Conduct risk assessments, identify control weaknesses, and provide actionable recommendations to improve internal controls and business processes.
* Review and sign off on audit files, ensuring they meet regulatory compliance and professional standards.
* Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities for additional services and fostering long-term client relationships.
* Prepare and present insightful audit reports to clients, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
* Ensure profitability on all engagements by effectively managing work-in-progress (WIP) and timely billing of clients.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the audit function, contributing to the development of strategies, policies, and procedures.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Extensive experience in external auditing, including working with complex group structures, multinational corporations, and liaising with component auditors.
* Strong knowledge of audit risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
* Proven ability to lead and mentor audit teams, ensuring efficient delivery of high-quality work.
* Expertise in identifying client needs and delivering value-added services beyond the audit function.
Required Qualifications:
* Full membership with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, ICAI, or AICPA).
* Up-to-date knowledge of audit standards, industry regulations, and relevant CPD.
