Job Description
The Environment Agency is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, communities, and the environment.
This is an opportunity to use your analytical skills to improve our environment and advance circular economy goals through a new Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for plastic bottles and cans. The introduction of the DRS is a significant step towards ending the throwaway society and cleaning up Britain.
You will lead data analytics efforts to support the implementation and development of the DRS regime. Your work will ensure that data collected is robust, accurate, and effectively used to assess fraud risk, monitor compliance, and inform policy decisions.
By harnessing data, you can help streamline collection, reduce waste, and promote the circular economy, transforming discarded items into valuable resources.
You will collaborate with colleagues across the Environment Agency, Defra, devolved administrations, and industry stakeholders to translate policy into operational systems. Your role involves identifying patterns and analyzing trends to ensure the scheme functions effectively.
Your responsibilities include analyzing data to develop dashboards, reports, and models to support enforcement and monitoring of the scheme, which involves:
* Collaborating with policy, digital, and regulatory teams to shape the DRS digital infrastructure and ensure data quality.
* Providing expert analytical insights to inform decision-making across the Environment Agency and government partners.
* Helping define and improve data governance and reporting standards for the scheme.
You will develop a solid understanding of the DRS regime, with opportunities to explore other producer responsibility regimes.
The team
In E&B, we promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. We leverage evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to enhance delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources.
