Job Title: Support Worker
Working hours per week: 37.5
Salary: £11.95 per hour will be increasing from April 2025
Role & Functions: At Jean Garwood House we aim to ensure the smooth running of the residence to support those who call it home. As a Support Worker, your role and responsibilities are to include supporting the various additional requirements of operations to contribute to a positive environment. Some of the roles and responsibilities are listed below, however the list is not exhaustive and is only documented to show to generalist activities and requirements.
· To assist with smooth and efficient running of the home, helping the residents, manager, deputy manager and other staff to this end
· To manage personal care tasks and mealtime preparation and assistance for the residents
· To receive visitors and take calls in the absence of the Manager or Deputy Manager
· Be aware of any safeguarding issues and report to the manager or deputy manager if there are any concerns
· Update care plans and annual reviews for all residents using the homes digital system
· Update allocated audits in a timely and effective manner using the homes digital system
· Update the PEEPS every year (personal evacuation plan for each client)
· Organising of day trips (with authorisation)
· Liaising with family members to communicate activities
· Planning of the activities inclusive of journey, activities and plan for unforeseen events
· Risk assesses each external trip including ensuring the correct coverage of staffing for a safe journey for both the trip and the home
· Planning of various activities throughout the week including, well-being/exercise activities, quizzes, other games, health talks, poetry classes etc.
· Keeping activities current
· Personal care of residents
· Toileting of residents
· Feeding of residents
· Ensuring that cleaning routines are adhered to in the home to ensure limited risk of infection and cross-contamination
· Administration of medication of residents inclusive of updating the MARS
· To attend all training provided mandatory or otherwise
· Valid UK Driving Licence is desirable
-NVQ -2 is desirable
* DBS on the update service is desirable
The above is not an exhaustive list. All functions should be supported by your fellow Senior Support Worker and only in instances of absence will your role be required to fulfil all functions.
