An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join the Respiratory and Sleep Service at The James Cook Hospital delivering excellence to patients requiring Non Invasive Ventilation
The service is committed to delivering high quality care, in the acute hospital and community setting, to patients who have Respiratory conditions and their families.
Applicants must be motivated and dynamic and have the ability to make decisions independently and manage respiratory patients.
Main duties of the job
The primary focus is the initiation of therapy and ongoing management of patients using home NIV therapy.
·Identify patients requiring home NIV therapy in consultation with Respiratory Consultant
·Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and earlobe capillary blood gases to inform decision making
·Use clinical decision making to consider patients for home NIV, CPAP and/or oxygen therapy as appropriate, assess patient response and commence therapy as appropriate. This includes distinguishing between requirement for CPAP and NIV therapy.
·Support and enable patients and carers to make informed decisions relating to their NIV therapy
