The Opportunity
As Head of Development, you will take full ownership of the development function, setting the vision, driving delivery, and building a culture of excellence. You’ll work closely with senior leadership to align technical strategy with commercial goals, while empowering teams to innovate, scale, and deliver at pace. With a flexible model requiring monthly visits to Leeds city centre, this role offers both autonomy and meaningful collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and lead the development strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap
* Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team
* Drive best practices across coding standards, CI/CD, testing, and delivery
* Oversee the development lifecycle, from concept through to deployment and optimisation
* Collaborate with Product, Design, and senior stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions
* Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and future-proof
* Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in a Head of Development / Engineering leadership role
* Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of modern development stacks
* Experience scaling teams and delivering complex digital platforms or products
* A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into execution
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Passion for building teams, improving processes, and driving high standards
