Overview
Join the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) as Head of Event Management & Venue Operations and lead live experiences across The OVO Hydro, SEC Armadillo, and SEC Centre. This role shapes event strategy, operational excellence, and continuous innovation to maintain SEC’s reputation as a world‑class event destination.
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and implement a comprehensive Event Management Strategy aligned with SEC’s business objectives, including growth, competitiveness and experience‑focused delivery.
* Create a Customer and Venue Experience Strategy that enhances reputation with guests, clients and the industry.
* Continuously refine planning and operations, challenging status‑quo to ensure the highest delivery standards.
Operational Management
* Oversee day‑to‑day EMVO responsibilities: new business, event planning and delivery, customer experience, catering, front‑of‑house, back‑of‑house operations, and event support.
* Ensure safety, compliance, risk assessments, access policies, Incident Response Plan and venue licence compliance.
* Coordinate venue Premises Manager responsibilities for alcohol licensing and regulatory obligations.
Team Leadership
* Lead, mentor and inspire a high‑performing EMVO team through coaching, training and performance management.
* Foster collaboration and a motivating environment to deliver world‑class events and services.
* Recruit, train and develop talent, providing clear career pathways.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent).
* Leadership or management certification.
Skills and Competencies
* Extensive senior experience in events or venue management.
* Strong leadership and stakeholder influence.
* Commercial acumen: budget management, forecasting and growth.
* Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation.
* Proven project management across complex events simultaneously.
* Problem‑solving: adaptable, resourceful and creative.
* Deep compliance knowledge of health, safety, licensing regulations.
