About the role

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Theatre team at Dewsbury District Hospital.

We are looking for an Band 6 RN or ODP to join our Day Surgery Theatres team at Dewsbury District Hospital.

This role provides senior clinical support within the theatre environment, delivering safe, efficient perioperative care across elective day surgery lists. You will act as a clinical role model, supporting theatre flow, patient safety, and staff development while working closely with the multidisciplinary team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinician who enjoys teaching alongside hands-on theatre practice in a busy day surgery setting.

Main duties

* Delivering high-quality perioperative care within theatres and recovery
* Supporting coordination of day surgery theatre lists and patient flow
* Providing day-to-day clinical leadership, supervision, and teaching to theatre staff
* Supporting student learning, competency development, and staff induction
* Contributing to audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance

Essential person specification requirements

Qualifications

* The ideal candidate will be a qualified RODP/RN
* Mentor/Assessor qualification at honors level or equivalent

Experience

* Significant post registration experience within theatres /PACU

Knowledge and awareness

* Essential knowledge of your own speciality and current issues in health care
* An understanding of skills and knowledge required to develop self and team members
* Continued professional development
* Demonstrates a clear understanding of budget management
* Awareness of own limitations.
