We are seeking a proactive and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee fleet operations across the North East Region. The role will be based full time at either the Scunthorpe or Retford depot and will include full responsibility for fleet compliance, maintenance, procurement, and reporting. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives and ensure operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead daily fleet operations across multiple depots
2. Manage and support the Fleet Administrator, encouraging development
3. Ensure compliance with MOT, tax, certifications, and company standards
4. Monitor vehicle checks, service records, and maintenance schedules
5. Coordinate repairs and servicing with garages and suppliers
6. Oversee vehicle handovers and maintain accurate documentation
7. Source vehicles and parts, negotiating contracts and pricing
8. Handle external repairs, warranty claims, and accident repairs
9. Respond to PCNs and traffic offences with proper documentation
10. Maintain fleet database with up-to-date service and compliance records
11. Administer insurance claims and liaise with insurers
12. Ensure accurate accident reporting with supporting evidence
13. Collaborate with senior management on fleet policies and improvements
14. Produce regular performance and compliance reports
Qualifications & Skills:
* Strong computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
* Proven experience in fleet management or a related operational role
* Experience in team leadership or line management
* Excellent organisational, communication, and negotiation skills
* Ability to lead and motivate teams across multiple locations
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement
* Reliable, with excellent time management and attention to detail
