About the Role
GSL Education are seeking a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Support Worker to support pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to help pupils manage behaviour, access learning, and develop positive coping strategies. This role is well-suited to individuals with experience in education, care, youth work, or similar support roles.
Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support
Implement behaviour management strategies
Support pupils in regulating emotions and responses
Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning
De-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
Build positive, professional relationships with pupils
Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff
Monitor behaviour, progress, and incident reports
Provide personal care support where required
Qualifications
Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Understanding of SEMH needs (desirable)
Ability to build trust while maintaining boundaries
Relevant support work, TA, or care experience
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
