Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our care team in a nursing home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting residents with their daily needs, promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and senior carers, you will provide person-centred care that enhances the quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and support with daily living activities (washing, dressing, toileting, eating, and mobility).
* Build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues, ensuring dignity, respect, and empathy at all times.
* Assist with mealtimes, hydration, and monitoring of dietary needs.
* Support residents with recreational and social activities to encourage engagement and wellbeing.
* Monitor and record observations such as fluid intake, weight, and any changes in condition, reporting promptly to nursing staff.
* Assist with the safe use of mobility aids and equipment in line with training.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment by following infection prevention and control procedures.
* Contribute to care planning and accurate documentation of care delivered.
* Work collaboratively with the wider care team to ensure individualised care plans are met.
Qualifications & Skills
* Must have the right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide visa sponsorship).
* Previous experience in a care or nursing home environment is desirable but not essential (full training provided).
* Care Certificate (or willingness to work towards it).
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care is advantageous.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a caring and patient nature.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of residents.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
