As a Parking Attendant you will undertake patrols, carry out enforcement and advise the public on parking restrictions. These duties support keeping our roads moving and ensuring public safety. You will patrol on-street and in council car parks to issue Penalty Charge Notices and guide the public on regulations, including the Low Emission Zone. Full training will be provided. This role is based at Gellatly Street car park in Dundee City Centre. It is a full-time position, 37 hours per week on a rota basis, across seven days, with occasional evening work eligible for an enhanced rate. Requirements
You will have 3 National 5s, or equivalent, and/or decriminalised parking enforcement work experience.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for enforcing on- and off-street parking contraventions and driving prohibitions throughout the city in accordance with relevant traffic regulations and enforcement legislation, including the Road Traffic Act 1991 and Transport (Scotland) Act 2019. Contraventions will relate to decriminalised parking and entry of non-compliant vehicles into the city’s Low Emission Zone and bus lanes.
The Individual
You will have proven experience of working face to face with the public and the confidence to deal with members of the public in challenging situations. You must be physically fit and prepared to walk 10–12 miles a day in all weathers on different terrains. You should have good verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and tactfully when dealing with the public. Good written communication skills, attention to detail, basic numeracy, and the ability to use smartphones to input, check and update information are essential. A flexible approach to working, the ability to work on a rota including weekends, evenings and public holidays, and the ability to work alone or as part of a team are required.
