The apprentice will develop practical site skills, safe working practices and core employability skills through supervised work-based learning and off-site training with an approved learning provider. The role is suitable for someone who is motivated to begin a long-term career in construction and willing to learn across a range of site activities in line with the relevant Scottish framework and occupational pathway.\n â¢\tWork under supervision to support day-to-day construction activities on live sites.\nâ¢\tFollow company health, safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times, including correct use of PPE.\nâ¢\tAssist with site preparation, setting out work areas, handling materials and keeping workspaces clean, tidy and safe.\nâ¢\tUse hand tools, equipment and materials safely and correctly under instruction.\nâ¢\tSupport skilled tradespeople and supervisors with practical tasks appropriate to the apprenticeship pathway and stage of training.\nâ¢\tLearn how to prepare, measure, move and store materials efficiently and in line with site requirements.\nâ¢\tAttend all required college, provider or off-the-job training sessions and complete workplace evidence for the apprenticeship qualification.\nâ¢\tDevelop communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time-management skills as part of the apprenticeship programme.\nâ¢\tReport hazards, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly to the appropriate supervisor.\nâ¢\tDemonstrate a positive attitude to learning, reliability, good attendance and commitment to completing the Modern Apprenticeship.\n Skills & Attributes\nEssential\nâ¢\tGenuine interest in construction and motivation to build a long-term career in the industry.\nâ¢\tWillingness to learn through a combination of on-site experience and formal training.\nâ¢\tReliable, punctual and able to follow instructions safely and accurately.\nâ¢\tAble to work effectively as part of a team and communicate respectfully with colleagues, supervisors and training providers.\nâ¢\tCommitment to achieving the relevant Scottish Modern Apprenticeship qualification framework requirements.\nDesirable but not essential\nâ¢\tNational 4/5 qualifications or practical learning relevant to construction.\nâ¢\tPrevious work experience, school placement or taster activity in a construction or trades environment.\nâ¢\tAwareness of health and safety responsibilities on site.\nâ¢\tDriving licence or ability to travel to sites and training locations.\n\n
