CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist - Horsham Community (attracts RRP)
North West Sussex CAMHS Service has an exciting opportunity for a permanent Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Consultant Psychiatrist to join their locality team.
This role offers a chance to play an integral part in delivering a safe, effective, and caring service to children and young people aged 0-18 years. Psychiatrists are key in driving change and influencing service development. The Trust aims to continuously improve for patient benefit and values both clinical and non-clinical input.
You will work within a friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team comprising nurses, psychologists, systemic family therapists, and child psychotherapists. You will collaborate with other Consultants and Specialty Doctors within Sussex CAMHS and have opportunities to engage with a Trust-wide Consultant network for peer support and development.
As a teaching Trust affiliated with Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), we host trainees across various levels, including F2, GP trainees, and higher specialty trainees. We also provide training for medical and Physician Associate students from BSMS.
Main duties of the job
The service aligns with NICE Evidence-Based Treatment guidelines. You will provide high-quality specialist assessments, including psychiatric and physical investigations, to children, young people, and their families across different settings. Collaboration with team members to develop tailored treatment plans is essential.
* Conduct psychiatric assessments and interventions, including pharmacology and Mental Health Act assessments, ensuring quality and effectiveness within a multidisciplinary team.
* Perform neurodevelopmental assessments (e.g., ASD, ADHD) in partnership with colleagues, following care pathways.
* Provide expert clinical advice, assessments, and interventions across settings.
* Engage families and carers in care planning and delivery.
* Offer timely advice and consultation to GPs, social services, and referrers to facilitate appropriate service access.

Person Specification
Qualifications
o MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
o GMC registration with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
o Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
o AC/S12 status.
o Higher degree in medical education, research, or management (preferred).
o Additional clinical qualifications (desirable).
Experience
o Strong knowledge of the specialty.
o Excellent clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social approach.
o Ability to manage complex and uncertain cases.
o Decision-making based on evidence and team input.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).
