We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and execution-focused Senior Manager - Risk Transformation UKI (12 Month FTC) to lead AXA Partners UK's risk management transformation initiatives. Reporting directly to the Head of Operational Risk & Internal Control, you will oversee the delivery of key process improvements, governance enhancements, and controls uplift over a 12-month period. Supported by a risk SME and a project management contractor, your leadership will ensure timely execution, stakeholder engagement, and strategic improvements that elevate our risk framework and operational risk management practices.
Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end execution of UK risk transformation initiatives, ensuring activities are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards
* Oversee multiple workstreams, ensuring milestones are met and dependencies managed effectively
* Act as the primary escalation point for issues, risks, and dependencies impacting delivery
* Collaborate closely with the risk SME and project management contractor to monitor project plans, risks, and progress, providing strategic oversight
* Support and endorse process changes, documentation updates, and governance practices to uplift the UK risk and internal control framework
* Ensure all activities comply with UK regulatory standards (FCA, PRA, etc.) and AXA Partners UK policies
* Provide regular updates, dashboards, and governance materials to senior leadership and committees
* Facilitate thematic reviews, deep dives, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the UK business, promoting a proactive risk culture and providing practical risk guidance
Qualifications
* 7+ years experience in operational risk, internal control, internal audit, or related second-line roles within UK-regulated financial services
* Proven experience leading or supporting large-scale risk and control transformation projects
* Strong knowledge of UK regulatory standards (FCA, PRA) and risk management frameworks
* Hands‑on experience with risk management systems, dashboards, and reporting tools such as Power BI
* Technical risk SME expertise, capable of providing guidance on controls and processes
* Familiarity with project management methodologies supporting project delivery
* Strong critical thinking and professional skepticism with confidence to challenge and identify gaps
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills, especially with senior leadership
* Highly organized, reliable, and ownership‑driven, able to manage multiple priorities under pressure
* Confident presenter with the ability to deliver clear, structured messages to senior committees
* Independent worker with sound judgment and the ability to operate with minimal supervision
* Skilled at fostering trust and collaboration across functions
* Calm, solutions‑focused approach, supporting teams during peak periods
* Committed to driving continuous improvement and embedding a high‑performance culture
