Intermediate Mechanical Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid)
Salary: Around £40,000
About the Company
A growing building services consultancy delivering sustainable, high-quality projects across the retail, education, heritage, and industrial sectors, with recent expansion into high-end residential work. The company has grown steadily over the past year, adding new team members and taking on a wider range of projects.
They\'re seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to bridge the gap between the Technical Director and a team of three graduate/junior engineers. The role is primarily office-based in Milton Keynes, with flexibility for hybrid working. You\'ll take responsibility for mechanical design delivery, technical supervision, and mentoring, while contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver mechanical (HVAC) design packages under senior guidance
* Supervise and mentor junior engineers
* Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural teams
* Produce and review calculations, drawings, and specifications
* Support design reviews, QA processes, and client meetings
* Occasionally attend site visits and inspections

* Warehouses and industrial buildings
* School extensions and education facilities
* Retail and heritage projects
* High-end residential developments
About You
* 3-7 years\' experience in building services (consultancy or contractor background)
* Strong mechanical design skills and understanding of UK standards
* Competent with Revit/CAD and mechanical design software
* Confident communicator, able to support and guide junior staff
* Interest in sustainability and low-carbon design
* Working toward Chartership (desirable)
