As a Serco Aircraft Refuelling Fuel Tanker Vehicle Maintenance Technician in our Defence team, you’ll help keep essential air operations moving safely and efficiently at RAF Brize Norton. Your work will directly support Royal Air Force (RAF) colleagues and contribute to the delivery of vital air transport and air-to-air refuelling capability. You’ll join a dedicated team that plays a key part in maintaining the aircraft refuelling fleet and airfield support equipment across the RAF’s largest operational base. Your contribution will help ensure safe, reliable operations that positively impact national defence and the wider community. What you’ll do as a Serco Aircraft Refuelling Fuel Tanker Vehicle Maintenance Technician You’ll be entrusted to: Maintain and rectify aircraft refuelling vehicles, fuel transfer vehicles and associated equipment. Complete daily checks and maintenance on Runway Arrestor Gear (training provided). Work safely and effectively to technical work procedures, Health and Safety instructions, and Serco operating procedures. Maintain a clear, safe and efficient working environment. Ensure maintenance and associated documentation is completed accurately and right first time. Complete overtime as and when required Support Continuous Improvement to ensure that our teams drive for effectiveness, efficiency and improvements in the output and working environment. You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have: Three years of experience in the Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Equipment Arena or equivalent. (Transferable skills from HGV, Vehicle, Plant Fitter, Aviation maintenance arena are all appropriate). Ability to effectively and safely complete maintenance and rectification tasks. Functional IT skills to use Electronic Technical Manuals and to update Maintenance Recording systems. Be an excellent team player with a “can-do safely” approach to work. Must have high standards of oral and written communication skills. Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle / Technical Maintenance arena. Vetting and checks: This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
