Robert Half are delighted to be partnering with a leading law firm in Bristol to recruit for a skilled Legal Cashier Supervisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal cashier professional to step into a supervisory position within a dynamic finance
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Cashiering Operations
* Ensure compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.
* Accurately process office and client account receipts on financial systems.
* Action inter-account transfers and ensure appropriate handling of unallocated receipts.
* Support month-end and year-end accounting functions, including reconciliations and report preparation.
* Process electronic payments using internal systems, ensuring alignment with payment policies.
* Complete bank reconciliations.
* Handle interest calculations, disbursements, write-offs, and matter-related transfers.
* Respond to finance-related queries from staff, clients, banks, and suppliers.
* Maintain accuracy in suspense accounts and ensure prompt action on unclaimed funds.
Team Supervision
* Allocate daily work across the cashiering team and ensure task completion.
* Act as the first point of contact for queries, escalating where necessary.
* Support training for cashiering staff and firmwide stakeholders on tools and processes.
* Conduct end-of-day checks, share responsibility for reconciliation oversight.
* Assist with performance reviews and one-to-one staff meetings.
* Support the Accounts Manager in compliance reporting and project tasks.
Banking and Petty Cash
* Perform daily banking duties including cheque logging and payment allocation.
* Manage deposit account transactions via corporate online banking platforms.
* Reconcile petty cash balances and maintain accurate float records for all offices.
Additional Duties
* Assist with software testing and finance system updates.
* Participate in audits, SLA reviews, and internal controls.
* Provide general administrative support including filing and archiving.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of 6 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within a legal or professional services environment.
* Previous legal cashiering experience with strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
* Experience using finance and practice management systems.
* Confident user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments.
