MACHINE SETTER / CNC TECHNICIAN

£30,000 - £33,000 (includes shift allowance and Friday supplement)

We are looking for a hands‑on Machine Setter / CNC Technician to support production performance, machine uptime, and OEE targets across our machining operations.
You will play a key role in maintaining tooling, supporting changeovers, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring production runs safely and efficiently.
Commute from Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Smethwick, Rowley Regis, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Aldridge, Hockley, Quinton, Darlaston, Willenhall, Bilston, Bloxwich, Wombourne, Oldbury.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machining centres safely and efficiently.
- Preset tooling using Zoller tool‑presetting equipment.
- Maintain machine cycle times and support OEE performance targets.
- Conduct machine, fixture, and tooling TPM activities.
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, fixture, and cobot stoppages.
- Perform authorised low‑level CNC program edits.
- Complete tooling breakage reports and production documentation.
- Maintain accurate OEE data within the DMP system.
- Plan and support machine changeovers.
- Conduct effective shift handovers and communicate technical issues.
- Follow Stop‑Call‑Wait procedures to protect product quality.
- Escalate production, quality, or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Support tooling presetting and other operational activities as required.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety at all times.
Requirements
- Experienced in operating and setting CNC machining centres.
- Able to read, understand, and make basic CNC program adjustments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and confident using hand tools.
- Able to prioritise tasks and respond to production risks effectively.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Flexible with shifts and working hours to support business needs.
- CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with tooling, machine set‑ups, and changeovers.
- Knowledge of TPM and continuous improvement practices is desirable.
