Group Accountant
We have an exciting new role for a Group Accountant which will be a key role at the centre of the Connells Group. Reporting to the Technical Accounting Manager, this position sits in our Group Finance team based in Leighton Buzzard, with some travel to subsidiary finance teams across the UK. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Groups internal and external reporting as it continues to expand, and will support the entire Group Finance function including the head office cost centre, with particular focus on group oversight and controls.

You’ll have a keen attention to detail as well as the ability to manage a busy workload and meet reporting deadlines. It’s likely you will have experience of working in a fast-paced environment, and you’ll certainly be someone who thrives under pressure and can prioritise your own workload. You will be a qualified accountant looking for the next step in their development at the heart of the Group Finance team in a large and complex organisation.
You will be responsible for:
1. Implementing a program of controls and oversight across the Group.
2. Review of key reconciliations across the Group including periodic site visits to subsidiaries
3. Support with the accurate and timely production of Group regulatory reporting returns
4. Support a strong control environment within the core financial reporting team processes
5. Supporting the monthly management accounting and reporting process for all Head Office Group costs.
6. Reviewing journals and reconciliations for the head office entity
7. Ensure that every assistance is given to internal and external Auditors and that their agreed recommendations are employed
8. Manage projects to improve Group processes
9. Support with acquisition accounting (IFRS 3)
10. Support Group Technical Accounting team on ad hoc queries related to accounting standards (IFRS 16, IAS 38, IAS 16)
Your experience and skills will include:
11. Degree level education or equivalent and professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or finalist
12. Audit experience preferable
13. High level of attention to detail
14. Capable of working proactively and on own initiative
15. An understanding of current accounting standards, practice and guidance.
16. Excellent written & verbal communication skills
17. Excellent Excel Skills.
