Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Henley-on-Thames (RG) area to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Class Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to join a nurturing environment and make a meaningful impact during the early stages of pupils’ education.
This role would suit an engaging and creative teacher with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, who is committed to fostering a love of learning and supporting pupils’ academic and social development.
The Role
As a KS1 Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils through a key stage in their learning journey, helping to build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and delivering engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
Supporting pupils’ progress in phonics, early reading, writing, and maths
Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data-driven teaching and targeted interventions
Supporting pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN
Promoting confidence, independence, and social skills
Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
Experience within Early Years or Key Stage 1
Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics frameworks (e.g., Little Wandle)
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
A creative, nurturing, and engaging teaching style
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work full-time in the Henley (RG) area from September
Desirable
Experience teaching Year 1 or Year 2
Expertise in phonics delivery and early reading development
Experience preparing pupils for Year 2 assessments
Experience supporting children with SEN
Knowledge of assessment and progress tracking
