The General Manager is a key role within the CSU leadershipalongside the Head of Nursing and the Director team. The team is collectivelyaccountable for building the strategic and operational direction and deliveryof urgent and emergency care and response in partnership with city systemcolleagues.

Main duties of the job
Theclinical service unit is a busy and fast paced environment, so the postholder must be adaptive to change and able to make rapid balanced decisionsto enable best care for patients and support for staff. The post-holder will - Provide strong leadership to awell-established and highly performing team. Line manages a team to supportnational data and report submissions. Act as the leader on point to deliverthe performance and financial objectives for the operations centre. Provideleadership in delivering the CSUs priority areas, such as clinical servicedevelopment, contracting, business cases and Leeds Improvement Method valuestreams. Support the Head of Nursing and Director of Operations in decidingthe strategic direction and management priorities for the serviceparticularly aligned with the 10-year plan. Champion patient-centered careensuring safety; quality and patient experience are embedded in everything wedo.

Job responsibilities
Thepost holder will manage a clinical service unit or clinical support unit,comprising a number of specialties or support services supporting theDirector of operations, the post holder will be responsible for the overalldelivery of service, quality, financial and other targets as determined bythe Executive Directors. Inpartnership with the Director of Operations, the post holder will be responsible for business, workforce and financial planning within his/her ownunit and will work closely with other managers and clinicians to supportTrust-wide objectives.

Managethe performance of the unit against key targets and measures
Ensurethat resources are deployed effectively and that robust processes are inplace to support the provision of efficient, high quality, services
Responsiblefor relevant capital programmes and associated budgets

Ensurethat the clinical activities are appropriately recorded in order to maximiseincome opportunities related to service provision
Engagingon behalf of the unit with internal and, where appropriate, externalstakeholders; promoting partnerships and co-operative working
Ensurebusiness continuity and risk management arrangements are in place in the unit

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of successful operational management at a middle/senior management level.
* Knowledge and experience of disciplines including finance, people management, commissioning, risk management, performance management, service improvement and change management
Additional Requirements
* Excellent change management skills including service reconfiguration
* Developed communication and facilitation skills. Ability to lead service redesign projects
