Who we are looking for
An Infrastructure Engineer who will complete onsite and remote infrastructure tasks, including the installation of equipment and technical troubleshooting, across our global datacentre environment.
The datacentre operations team are responsible for the commissioning and decommissioning of all physical assets across the global datacentre estate. You will be actively involved in providing onsite hardware break fix support, working alongside internal and third party engineers.
You will have experience working in large datacentre environments and will be expected to work both independently and within a team to deliver infrastructure deployments in the UK and other worldwide locations. Delivering to defined timeframes and installation standards are key elements of the role.
The day to day work is interesting, challenging and fast paced amidst a hardworking and delivery focused Company ethos. We are looking for people with a broad set of technical skills who are ready to tackle some of technology’s greatest challenges.
This role is predominantly field based and will involve working across a number of datacentres.
There will also be a requirement for international travel.
Preferred skills and experience
* Solid technical background working across data centre and infrastructure environments.
* Strong technical understanding of server and network hardware.
* Background in large server deployments including installation, cabling and base configuration.
* Working knowledge of Hpe and Dell management software.
* Strong planning and organisational skills.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal customers and external resources.
* Experience completing hardware component replacements and in depth hardware troubleshooting to identify root cause.
* Demonstrable experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems.
* Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks as work demands changes.
Main Responsibilities
* Deploying physical hardware across datacentres in line with policy and standards.
* Replacing hardware assets and components to support break fix activity.
* Assisting with troubleshooting complex hardware problems.
* Working with co-location datacentre engineers to ensure “hands and eyes” work is completed to Company standards.
* Validating server builds to ensure they conform to Business and security standards.
* Ensuring datacentre standards are maintained to documented guidelines.
* Maintaining server and component stock levels.
* Staying up to date with the latest technologies and making recommendations for implementation.
* Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
* Identifying areas of improvement and actively working to resolve them.
