We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Rye Hill, providing permanent cover as a Functional Skills Teacher, specialising in either English or Maths. This position is offered on a full-time, 6-month fixed term basis, working 37hrs per week.

HMP Rye Hill Prison is located in the rural setting of Willoughby, which is situated near Rugby in Warwickshire. It is a Category C prison that houses adult male inmates. The prison's regime, facilities, and support services are designed to address the diverse needs of its population, promoting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending rates. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
Role Responsibilities
In this role, you will work with, and be supported by, our amazing team of dedicated professionals to mentor our learners and help them to secure future employment opportunities post-release. You will need patience, passion, flexibility and understanding in your approach to our learners, who have 'hit a bump in the road' but want to learn and improve.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months.
Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
Have a good previous track record of achieving quality targets
Have willingness to engage with and produce accurate and timely reports
Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
Have an ability to motivate and enthuse learners in the subject matter
Demonstrate good organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines/targets
Advocate for and engage consistently in positive team working
