Purpose of the Assistant Accountant opportunity: To support the delivery of an integrated, robust financial planning process. To support the provision of high-quality, accurate, relevant and timely monitoring and forecasting information. Provide financial advice and guidance to stakeholders.Key duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant will include: Support statutory reporting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Assist the financial accountant in treasury management activities. To provide effective financial and accounting analysis. To provide analysis and financial advice to stakeholders. To contribute towards the delivery of the council's statutory Statement of Accounts. Support taxation activities, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax strategies. Help drive improvements in the financial control environment, identifying and mitigating risks. Delivering statutory financial accounts and working with external auditors.Required experience of the Assistant Accountant: AAT qualified (or equivalent) with a solid foundation in financial processes and systems. Proven experience within accounting and budgetary control.
