Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen to work as a B6 Physiotherapist within the Physiotherapy Service at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The post focuses on the Discharge to Recover and Assess pathway based in the Emergency Department and may involve supporting patients in community settings. The successful candidate will join an established multidisciplinary team that delivers evidence‑based interventions within the emergency and assessment areas.


Main Duties

* Carry out physiotherapy assessments and treatments, developing individualised therapeutic programmes for a specialised caseload.
* Ensure high standard of care for each patient, collaborating with families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.
* Communicate appropriately with patients, carers, agencies and other disciplines about sensitive information and outcomes.
* Supervise, teach and appraise physiotherapy staff, assistants, students and other team members.
* Train and supervise patients, families and staff from other disciplines on care programmes devised by the therapist.
* Deputise for the Clinical Team Leader in daily management of the team.


Working Conditions

Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) with part‑time option. Extended hours and weekend working are expected, requiring flexibility in arrangements.


Qualifications

* Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed portfolio.


Desirable Qualifications

* Membership of a professional post‑graduate training body.
* Membership of a relevant special/clinical interest group.
* Completion of a clinical educators course.
* Bronze IQT.


Experience

* Significant post‑registration experience.
* Evidence of core rotations.
* Experience working in an NHS environment as a physiotherapist and with multidisciplinary/multi‑agency teams.


Desirable Experience

* Contribution to commissioning and governance networks.
* Experience in a relevant speciality.


Skills

* Excellent clinical reasoning skills.
* Ability to work autonomously within clinical area.
* Effective communication skills.
* Capability to lead and participate in team working and training.
* Self‑motivated and organisational skill, including prioritisation and delegation.
* Excellent verbal and written skills, presenting information clearly.
* Understanding of health board policies, data protection, equal opportunities and health & safety.


Desirable Skills

* Active involvement in research and evidence‑based practice.
* Capability to run internal or external courses.
* Strong teaching and supervisory skills.


Knowledge

* Good knowledge of complex conditions and underlying anatomy.
* Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology for complex pathology.
* Working knowledge of clinical governance, audit and risk management.
* Understanding of professional legal responsibilities.
* Understanding of statistics collection.
* Knowledge of BCU policies and procedures.


Personal Qualities

* Physically able to comply with manual handling guidelines.
* Can concentrate intensely throughout the day.
* Can meet 7‑day job planning and delivery requirements.
* Can work in a stressful and unpredictable environment.
* Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort during the day.
* Can meet travel requirements of the post.


Desirable Personal Qualities

* Welsh speaking.
