Overview
Barchester is one of the UK's foremost care providers with over 25 years of experience and nearly 240 care homes. They are seeking a Dementia Nurse Specialist to join their national team and support memory lane communities, as well as any other home or hospital that requires a specialist dementia intervention.
Responsibilities
As a Dementia Nurse Specialist, you will:
* Review the clinical performance of each home, identify strategies to ensure regulatory compliance and sustainability in relation to dementia care provision.
* Conduct quality assurance visits and follow up with agreed action plans.
* Analyse the clinical governance database to inform clinical improvement plans; support the home to meet all regulatory and statutory requirements including dementia-specific training.
* Ensure residents are treated with dignity and receive appropriate psychological and emotional support where needed.
* Adhere to safeguarding policies and Duty of Candour reporting mechanisms.
* Integrate current knowledge of dementia into practice, informed by research and other evidence.
* Develop dementia care projects within homes and division, offering staff advice and encouragement.
* Provide professional and clinical leadership with a person-centred approach; work with activities and life enrichment teams to deliver engaging activities.
* Support the revalidation process for qualified nurses in line with the NMC code.
* Contribute to strategic planning and projects to develop and enhance the work of Barchester Healthcare; develop close working relationships with management and support services.
* Support senior clinical staff with investigations or complaints relating to dementia care communities.

Requirements
Essential qualifications and experience:
* RN with a current NMC PIN.
* At least 5 years of post-registration clinical experience in working with people with dementia.
* Evidence of continuing professional development in dementia care.
* Understanding of the current regulatory framework and of ethical and legal issues in dementia care.
* Coaching and mentorship experience.
* Full UK driving licence.
