We have an amazing opportunity available due an increasing in funding investment for an established and experienced registered nurse that is looking for the next career move. You will be an enthusiastic, hard-working and committed individual to join our Women's Health Team. The Gynaecology ward team provide care to women and their families across our inpatient ward and our gynaecology and early pregnancy assessment unit as well as its own incorporated day of surgery admission area separate to that of the rest of the hospital.
The Gynaecology Ward accommodates a diverse mixture of surgical and emergency patients within the 18 bedded area, offering a tertiary service for Gynaecology Oncology and Endometriosis patients alongside our early pregnancy patients.
We have 2 37.5 hours and 1 36.0 hour posts available for a 12 month fixed term period covering 3 colleagues maternity leave
Main duties of the job
We are seeking experienced staff nurses with excellent communication and organisational skills, you will be passionate and strive to make a difference. You will be responsible for the provision of high quality care that is safe, efficient, effective, kind and meets the individual needs of women using our services. Together with the gynaecology team you will be leading the service to uphold the Trust values. You will be a team player who will support the team to develop the services offered.

You will be responsible for the provision of high quality care that is safe, efficient, effective, kind and meets the individual needs of women and their partners using our services.
Working closely with the two Ward Managers and the Matron, you will maintain a focus on the promotion of a close working relationship with the Multi-disciplinary team to uphold our standards and our mission to deliver excellent care with compassion, every time.
On the assessment unit, you will be involved in triaging, reviewing and treating the incoming referrals for assessment alongside the other nurses on duty, in a department that can see around 30 - 40 emergency attendances per day, with the aim to avoid admission to hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines
2. Support and provide patient education and health promotion
3. Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
4. Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
5. Assist in setting, monitoring and maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
6. Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care
7. Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional standards for documentation
8. Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
9. Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
10. Ensures environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
11. To participate in education and training of junior staff
12. Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice
13. Proactively engage with Trust wide or local changes and developments in nursing practice e.g intentional rounding, alcohol screening.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
14. Willing to expand clinical role eg IV additives, venepuncture and cannulation
15. Awareness of changes within Nursing practice
16. Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
17. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
18. Demonstrates competency during internship
Desirable criteria
19. Knowledge of ethical issues
20. Evidence of clinical competence in area of speciality e.g. gynae or early pregnancy
21. Knowledge of Leadership and Management

Qualifications and Education
Essential criteria
23. Appropriate NMC Registration
24. Diploma in Nursing
25. NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 18 months commencement in post
26. Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses
27. RN1, RN2 General Nursing Posts RN8 or RNC Children’s Nursing Posts
