Would you like to be part of a new, exciting, and innovative service working with young people with an ethos of prevention and early intervention?
In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the new Mental Health Support Teams (named by children and young people in the region as Wellbeing in Mind teams) offer an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England. Currently, there are 5 Wellbeing in Mind teams across North Yorkshire, embedded within education settings.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced clinician to join our Scarborough & Ryedale Wellbeing in Mind Team as a band 6 Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner working in schools in Ryedale. The successful candidate will join an established, supportive team. Flexibility to attend meetings in Scarborough is available, and flexible working patterns may be considered.
Applicants must be qualified as an EMHP and have completed, or currently be undertaking, the CWP/EMHP supervisor (PG Certificate or CPD) or Senior Wellbeing Practitioner G/PG Diploma training programme, provided by a nationally commissioned training provider.
The Wellbeing in Mind team has three functions:
1. Support the development of a whole-school or college approach to wellbeing, including developing and implementing mental health and wellbeing policies, resources, campaigns, training, assemblies, and PHSE curriculum.
2. Provide timely advice and consultation to education staff to support them in supporting students' mental health needs, both formally and informally.
3. Undertake direct assessments and interventions for young people within education, primarily using a low-intensity service model based on cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Each function accounts for approximately one-third of the team's workload.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
