Salary: £27,204 rising to £29,859 per annum + Excellent Benefits including Government Pension
Hours per week: This role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part‑time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

Want a role where your contribution makes a difference? We are looking for a Case Progression Officer to join our Criminal Justice team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of justice, ensuring that case files are prepared to the highest standard and progress efficiently through the criminal justice system. This is a full‑time post based in Exeter.
What you will be doing
As a Case Progression Officer, you will act as a key link between investigating officers and criminal justice partners, including the Crown Prosecution Service and His Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Service. You will be responsible for supporting activity that contributes directly to the criminal justice process and successful outcomes for victims.
This role sits at the heart of operational policing support and requires a strong focus on quality, compliance, and timeliness.
Key responsibilities include
* Preparation of criminal case files in line with national standards and legal requirement.
* Ensuring timely submission of files to the CPS, meeting strict deadlines.
* Review and quality assure case materials, requesting further information where required.
* Liaise with investigating officers, supervisors, and partner agencies to progress cases effectively.
* Maintain accurate records across multiple systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
* Support the progression of cases through the Magistrates’ and Crown Court processes.
* Contribute to continuous improvement in file quality and case handling procedures.
What we are looking for
* An understanding of the criminal justice systems including partner agencies linked to the creation and use of case files.
* Confidence in using IT systems and managing digital information including input, research, and workflow management.
* Effective communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including providing clear and detailed advice and influencing others.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
* Resilience to deal with difficult information within case files.
