Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our Community Nursing Team in West Caithness.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support to patients within their own community setting, delivering a high level of care that reflects what matters to the patient.
* Work in a team with HCAs, registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.
* Perform a range of tasks within a multidisciplinary framework such as wound care, basic vital signs, venepuncture, catheter care and provision of equipment.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent communication skills essential throughout the patient care pathway to ensure patient needs are met.
* SVQ Level 3 / Level 7 qualification desirable or willingness to work towards this in post to meet the requirements of the HCSW framework.
* Driving licence essential; applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes (pool vehicles may be available).
Working Conditions
This is a permanent part‑time post of 30 hours per week, to be worked in accordance with service requirements and will be based at William Smith House, Thurso.

Additional Information For Candidates
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
