Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Coding department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Accredited Clinical Coders to join our established professional Clinical Coding Team.
This role attracts a 15% recruitment and retention premium paid monthly in addition to your salary.
Due to the imminent implementation of our full Electronic Patient Record, we are able to offer fully remote or hybrid working. We are very happy to receive applications from ACC qualified Clinical Coders who live outside the geographical area of Torbay who are interested in remote working. If you prefer office working, there is a dedicated coding office at the Acute Torbay hospital site.
Responsibilities
* Clinical coding of inpatient and day-case episodes across all specialties provided at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 Coding Classifications.
* Provide high quality, accurate and timely coded clinical data through effective extraction and analysis of complex clinical information.
* Apply independent judgement in the interpretation and sequencing of clinical data, adhering to national clinical coding standards, rules and conventions.
* Extract and translate inpatient clinical information for effective management of the Trust and National Tariff Payment System, supporting clinical audit, governance and research.
* Regular liaison with clinicians and clinical teams to verify data recorded in the Electronic Patient Record, ensuring coding accuracy and integrity.
* Act as mentor to and assist in the training of less experienced coders.
Qualifications
* Accredited Clinical Coder with ACC qualification.
* Experience coding a variety of specialties within an acute NHS organisation.
* Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
